Paranormal Action Sports was founded in Roseburg, Oregon with a simple goal: create opportunities for youth and families to experience the positive impact of biking and action sports in a supportive community environment.
What began as a personal passion for riding and helping others grow has evolved into a community-focused effort to bring riders together through skill development, mentorship, and local skatepark events. Paranormal Action Sports is built on the belief that action sports can be a powerful tool for building confidence, resilience, and meaningful connections.
Through programs like the Calyx Pedal Project, riders are encouraged to learn at their own pace, challenge themselves, and support one another along the way. Whether it's a beginner learning to navigate the park for the first time or a more experienced rider pushing their skills further, every step forward is worth celebrating.
Beyond structured programs, Paranormal Action Sports also works to strengthen the local riding culture by organizing community events, skatepark meetups, and friendly competitions that bring riders and families together.
At its heart, Paranormal Action Sports is about more than bikes. It's about mentorship, encouragement, and creating a place where youth feel supported as they grow both on and off the bike.
Be Excellent Every Day.
ABOUT PARANORMAL ACTION SPORTS
Paranormal Action Sports was founded by Cody Scott, a Roseburg local with a lifelong passion for biking, community, and helping young riders discover what they are capable of.
Cody has spent more than 16 years riding BMX, much of that time at the local skatepark where he learned not only how to ride, but how persistence, creativity, and community can shape a person’s confidence and outlook on life. Like many riders, his progression came from showing up consistently, trying new things, learning from others, and pushing through the countless failed attempts that eventually lead to success.
One of the biggest influences on Cody’s riding journey was Kevin, a mentor and experienced rider who helped guide his progression and encouraged him to keep challenging himself. That mentorship helped shape the philosophy behind Paranormal Action Sports — that riding is about more than tricks or competition; it’s about encouragement, learning from each other, and building a supportive community.
For Cody, riding also became something deeper. Spending time on the bike and at the skatepark became a healthy outlet that helped bring balance and focus during difficult periods of life. The act of riding, learning new skills, and being part of a positive community played an important role in managing personal struggles and maintaining mental wellness.
That experience is a big part of what inspired the creation of Paranormal Action Sports and the Calyx Pedal Project. Cody wanted to create a space where youth could experience the same kind of encouragement, growth, and sense of belonging that riding gave him.
Today, Paranormal Action Sports works to provide structured opportunities for youth to learn bike skills, build confidence, and connect with others through riding. Through classes, mentorship, and community skatepark events, the goal is to create an environment where riders of all skill levels feel welcome and supported.
Cody believes that every rider progresses differently, but with the right encouragement and community, everyone can continue to grow.
Be Excellent Every Day.
